One question...so many answers...
George comes from the city of San Antonio, while I was raised on the Kansas prairie. We have two native tongues and two native lands between us - so it felt right that our farm name would bear the same. Luna is the word for moon in Spanish, and the moon rises high in the sky above our 10 acres that is made up of prairie grasses and woodlands. Watching it grow and wane as we move through our days, calls us back to the natural rhythms of life, which was one of our desires of moving out here and starting our farming adventure. "Love you to the moon and a back" are also words we utter all the time around here, as we raise our girls, pigs, chickens and dogs on this little spot we call home that seems to reside right where heaven and earth meet. |
SO MANY REASONS...
This really is an incredible breed of pigs.
Started about 25 years ago by a farmer in Idaho, this breed is a cross of the friendly, grass-grazing, beautiful but small Kune-Kune pig from New Zealand with Duroc and Berkshire's, two larger heritage breeds of meat pigs. The result is a grass-grazing, friendly, colorful pig who grows to butcher weight in about 10 months. They produce a rich grass-fed pork that is delicious. They are easy keepers who are great around children. We fall more in love with this breed everyday! Click below to meet our breeders and see our available piglets and/or upcoming planned litters. |
